The role of the Parish Council
All planning applications submitted to East Suffolk Council for Swilland and Witnesham are passed to the Parish Council for any observations. This is part of the formal consultation process and our views are sent to ESC in a set time scale to fit their decision process.
The Parish Council holds Planning sub-comittee meetings specifically to look at applications and any other related planning matters. These are held in public from time to time as related to the flow of business and within the set time scale. When a meeting is arranged the agenda is posted on all village noticeboards and on this web site 3-5 days ahead of the meeting.
It is important to understand that the committee does not make any decision on an application, but contribute it's best opinion, from an overall perspective and in the context of the area that we represent.
The ESC website gives details of the progress of all applications. ESC Planning Website Search
